The view from our room

Hi there,

As promised here is part two of our honeymoon trip.

So two days after our wedding we left Cape Town and travelled to the Kariega Game Reserve to spend three days at the Ukhozi Lodge. This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip and I have to admit that three days with no radio, TV or newspapers was just heavenly.

Our days started at 6am and we went on two game drives per day, which was surprisingly tiring. At least they were good enough to give us a 5.30am wake-up call as I would have hated to miss even a second.

Here are some pictures from the game reserve:

This is the first time I’d seen a puffa fish. You wouldn’t think they could be so deadly!

To sum up South Africa is an amazing place. We found the people to be warm and friendly and there are so many activities and exciting places to visit. The hotels we stopped in were better than anywhere we’ve stayed previously and they will definitely take some beating. On a final note the food is wonderful and during our stay we tried lots of seafood, springbok, crocodile and ostrich.

Of course there are negatives to Cape Town. For example, we didn’t venture out in the evenings and we made sure no jewellery or electrical gadgets were on display while we were out and about, but you would take these kinds of precautions in most big cities so it wasn’t too much of a problem. If we are lucky enough to go back then we’d love to do the Garden Route and Kruger National Park next time.

Suz x
